Overview
MGM Biofuels Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of MGM Minerals Ltd., has established a 200 KLPD Ethanol (AA) Manufacturing Plant with Captive Power Generation at Boudh, Odisha. The project has been developed with an investment of approximately Rs. 365 Crores and represents the Group’s entry into the renewable energy and biofuels sector.
The ethanol plant is based on broken rice as the primary raw material and has been set up to support the production of environment-friendly fuel in line with the concept of sustainable development. The unit is located at Village Biramchandrapur, Tahasil Harabhanga, District Boudh, Odisha.
The project has its own land measuring around 46.95 acres, out of which approximately 15.5 acres have been earmarked for green belt development within the plant premises. The facility has been designed with integrated captive power generation to support operational requirements.
In addition to ethanol production, the plant also generates DDGS (Distillers Dried Grain Soluble) powder as a byproduct. DDGS is rich in protein content and is widely used as cattle and poultry feed. Another byproduct generated from the process is Carbon Dioxide (CO₂), which is utilized in food processing, beverage, and manufacturing industries.
The project contributes to regional economic development through employment generation. The unit provides direct employment to around 150 persons and indirect employment opportunities to nearly 100 persons. The plant trial operations have been successfully completed and the unit has been commissioned. Through this project, MGM Biofuels Pvt. Ltd. contributes towards the growing biofuel sector while supporting sustainable industrial development in Odisha.
